Tohoku Crossing II Ultramarathon
Through History
Dates : March 29-April 16, 2025

The Tohoku Crossing II Project supported by NPO Circle Wind was a great success. Two runners from Coria del Río, Spain, a town where the Japón, who are said to be descendants of the Keichō envoys to Europe, had come to Japan to run through the area associated with Tsunenaga Hasekura as a part of this remarkable project.
Ten years ago, Tohoku Crossing I featured a solo runner. This time, Carlos Japón (right) and Eduardo Fernando (left) were joined by local runners. The group ran two laps around the Imperial Palace the day after arriving in Japan, followed by a run at the foot of Mount Fuji, the enduring symbol of the Japanese soul.
Starting from the birthplace of Tsunenaga, Yonezawa City in Yamagata Prefecture, they ran through ① Kawasaki Town, Miyagi Prefecture, ② Sendai City, ③ OsatoTown, ④ Matsushima, ⑤ Ishinomaki, and to the final goal, WACK Stadium in ⑥ Onagawa Town.

In total they ran 140km!
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who helped us. The event was covered by a number of local media outlets. The following are among articles from NHK News, TBC News, Kahoku Shimpo, and Ishinomaki Nichinichi Shimbun.
