The brilliant violinist Sho Omagari, based in New York and performing energetically throughout Europe and America, is coming to Japan. Starting in Sendai, he will hold recitals in Sapporo (Sapporo Concert Hall KITARA), Saitama (Tokorozawa Civic Cultural Center Muse), and Tokyo (Suntory Hall). He will be joined by his close friend, American pianist Ali Livne. Following last year's highly successful tour of Western Japan, this year's tour covers four cities in Eastern Japan. For the Sendai performance, the choir “Coro Hasekura” will make a guest appearance. The choir was formed last year to commemorate the 410th anniversary of the Keicho European Mission’s arrival in Spain, and as members of the Reiwa European Mission, they performed in Spain and Italy. In addition, members of the Japanese choir “TOMO” will also join the performance from New York. Additionally, guest performers include Hiroshi Miyazaki (violin), Takashi Yamamoto (violin), Motoi Hasegawa (viola), Yousuke Kaneko (cello), and Shun Nawa (double bass) from the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, and Kanji Miyagi (oboe) from the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra.

Born in Hamburg, West Germany, and raised in New York, Sho Omagari graduated from the prestigious Juilliard School and received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the State University of New York. At age 24, he became a professor at the Long Island Conservatory of Music.

He has won first prize eight times in international competitions in Europe and America and frequently performs at renowned venues including Carnegie Hall. For the New York performances by Joe Hisaishi and Michiru Oshima, he served as both a performer and the local manager. He has also performed alongside musical star Lea Salonga, known for her role in “Miss Saigon.”

Furthermore, as a pre-event celebration, a mini-concert by Musica de Oliva will be held on October 15th at the cafeteria “Olive” on the first floor of Tohoku Fukushidai, located in front of Sendai Station's East Exit.

No reservation required. Enjoy the performance casually with a glass of wine and engage in conversation. (Cover charge: ¥2,000)
