From August 6th for one week, an exhibition titled “The Story of the Teizan Canal” was held at the event hall of a long-established department store in Sendai. This exhibition was organized by the local magazine “Riraku” with the aim of reevaluating the Teizan Canal, Japan's largest canal spanning 49 kilometers, which was a major project of Date Masamune. NPO Circle Wind set up a section titled “The Keicho Embassy and the League of Hasekura Cities” within the exhibition, providing Sendai citizens with detailed information about the Keicho Embassy, which sent Hasekura Tsunenaga as an envoy to Europe 410 years ago. The section also reported on the current efforts of cities involved in the embassy to deepen cooperation and establish an alliance. Held during the Tanabata festival period, the exhibition attracted approximately 7,000 visitors, far exceeding initial expectations, and concluded successfully.
